What is Brickwear??? There is quite an interesting story here. Back in the mid and late 80's a dear friend and customer of ours, who also happened to be a great graphic artist, decided to play around with our logo. He was enamored with the Victorian era, and owned a big Victorian home here in town. He put pencil to paper and once he started he couldn't stop! From all that creativity pouring out of him came the logo we still use today. It was designed to look like a 1930's gas station sign. And it has withstood the sands of time. He designed jerseys, bib shorts, hats, gift bags and boxes, gift cards and business cards. Today that may not seem like it's all that different from everyone else, but back then Brick Wheels was one of the first independent bicycle retail stores to have it's own line of logo wear...I don't mean in Traverse City, I mean pretty much in the whole country. Our Brick Wheels jersey has become a must have for any cyclist visiting the area, as it happened when Brick Wheels and Traverse City was host to World Cup and National Mountain Bike Races featured on ESPN. We had jerseys spread from here to all over the country and beyond. Within a short period of time we started getting reports of Brick Wheels jersey "spottings". Customers would come in from traveling to SLC, Seattle, Ashville, Durango, St Louis, Hawaii and nearly every corner of the country telling us they were out riding and saw a Brick Wheels jersey...Our jersey was pictured along the road during a stage at the Tour de France, and shown in an issue of a national bicycling magazine. That is part of what has fueled the Traveling Waterbottle section of this site. Check it out and send us your travel photo with a Brick Wheels waterbottle.
